God Bless Everyone. No Exceptions.

I saw that on a bumper sticker this weekend and thought it was great.  Such a Biblical sentiment.

Meanwhile, what's black and white and red all over?  Lucy in the library!

In case you're wondering, she's still a Dodo bird.  She's still as spastic as ever.  We bought her a few toys (like the long cat tube above) and she loves them.  Every now and then she'll let us love on her but you can tell she's just throwing us a bone.  She sees us as her meal ticket and that's about it.

Speaking of meal tickets, I volunteered for Meals on Wheels this weekend and really enjoyed it.

While G was fanning the flames of his love affair with WWII era planes, I was delivering meals to homebound seniors.  The program is incredibly organized; at the "warehouse" they give you the exact number of meals you need for the route, and they have organized the addresses for the route in a big loop, so that by going from one to the next, you don't waste time or gas.  That is my kind of volunteer program.

All joking aside, MOW holds a special place in my heart because Gama and Papa used it for a time.  When Papa's Alzheimer's caused him to need to be supervised at all times (even before he was bedridden), Gama was not able to go grocery shopping regularly, and they were no longer able to eat lunch at the Senior Center.  MOW provided healthy meal supplements for them both throughout the week, and that's a wonderful memory for me as I drive around the neighborhoods of Denver with all the boxes in the trunk.

On Sunday we did our usual brunch (hallelujah) and then went hiking.  The house drama and general laziness caused us to take a break the past few weekends, so we got our butts to higher elevation and walked around for a couple of hours.

While we were out, we saw plans for a Summer White House, developed in the early 1900's by a prominent businessman and landowner in CO:

He actually laid the cornerstone!  But that's as far as he got.  I gotta say, though, he was on to something.  There's a reason Congress (and everyone else) takes a break from the East Coast in August.

This would have been the view.  Not bad.

Not pictured:  studying (and praying and fasting in loincloth and ashes) for the GRE; laundry; meal prep for the week; laundry; grocery shopping; Sonic; watching "After Earth" (not bad, actually); a twilight walk in the park; and napping on the couch while G painted his nerd models.

Can someone hit the fast forward button through Monday morning please?  Thanks.
