A New and Glorious Morn

Why is it easier to get up (even earlier than usual!) in the morning when I know I don't have to go to work?  Just sayin'.

I get to see these two today!

They are both bigtime readers.
It's going to be a fairly busy weekend (work wise) and I told G that I plan to wrap Orca in a towel and just carry her with me wherever I go.  Even to our holiday party.  I'm wearing a black dress so we will match perfectly.

And in our few hours at home, I'll lay around with her so we can relax.  We lead such busy lives.  And we need our beauty rest.

Could you die or what?  I can't even take it, she's so cute.
I'm the teensiest bit anxious about the flight today which makes zero sense.  It's only been a couple of months since I've flown and at that time I put some major airline miles under my belt:  18 hours to Africa; flying about every two days in country; another 18-20 hours back.  Boom.  Just fine.  Now the three hours to VA somehow seem formidable.  Not too formidable, but still.  I exercised this morning and am laying really low on the caffeine.  I plan to walk laps around the terminal in the airport and breathe, breathe, breathe.  That, and my pleaseGods, should be enough.  Saying a small prayer for me wouldn't hurt either.  :)  It's soooo not like it used to be though.

Yesterday my coworker, C, and I exchanged Christmas presents over a delicious lunch of pho.  Pho in winter?  That's like the best thing ever (besides my one true love, Chipotle).

Does she know me or what?  Before I opened them, she said, "This is a pairing.  The two are meant to be enjoyed together."  She was so serious.  I opened the wine first and then thought the next present would be chocolate.  But it was even better:  Season One of Revenge!

Here, I took an artistic close-up so you could fully enjoy the wonder that is this holiday gift:

The crumpled tissue paper is there for ambiance.  Really gets you in the Christmas spirit, doesn't it?

Ok, peeps, I'm off to be all Type A around the apartment before heading to the airport.  When I get back home, it will only be a few days until Orca moves in!  And Christmas!  I'm well into a couple more holiday books and will write about them soon.

Hope things are festive in your neck of the woods!
