The Best Laid Plans

We had grand plans to go hiking yesterday.  We scoped out the trail, the directions to get there, and we had a plan.

Then this happened.

I'm getting quite good at jump starting cars.  We managed to get my battery started, but then it died again right before I pulled out into traffic.  Divine intervention.  So my car spent the day in the shop and we spent the day doing responsible adult things.

Like getting our grocery shopping out of the way.

Two things about the above pic:  (1) we don't have that many groceries.  There are two enormous bags of hay in the buggy for you know who, and our stuff is piled on top of those.  (2)  Hey, A-peep, check out the bottom of the buggy.  Can you believe it?  I'm actually working the teensiest bit of caffeine back into my day...

G wanted to get these but I said no.

One of these things is not like the other.  Can you see it?  This is a little glimpse into my life, people.

We also made a nerd pit stop so G could pick up some asteroids.  Yes, really.  He figured out that he could get lava rocks and use them as asteroids in his nerdy board games.  I call them bored games.  Get it?  heh.

Lunch.  You know where.  You know what.

While we were waiting to hear about my car, I roasted veggies, make chicken chili, and prepped all my lunches for the week.  We got in a couple of episodes of Downton Abbey and I worked in a nap and an entire New Yorker and the beginning of a new book.  Another magazine came in the mail, so it's like two steps forward, one step back, but let's face it:  Bunny Mama likes being surrounded by reading materials.

So does Orca.

Turns out it was only a dead battery in my car.  Whew.  No alternator issues or transmission problems.  After we picked it back up, G made his asteroids.  I know you're dying to see the finished product, so here you go.

Even I have to admit that's pretty cool.

I'd like to say that we're going to go hiking today and get out and be all active...but I dunno.  These pj's are pretty comfy, and Orca just camped out under the bed.

So, no promises.

  1. everything about this post is your reality. even the bored games. And, BTW-it was the first thing that jumped out at me in your cart!
