A week later, and they're still married. They may just figure out this marriage thing.
This, though, is a bit misleading:
Rabbits aren't really that perky. They're usually more like this:
OMG people, I finally finished Moby Dick.
Moby Dick by Herman Melville |
But here's the thing. English and Literature have been my favorite subjects since, like, the beginning of time. And I've never read this book. I'm even to the point that I can usually recognize when other works are alluding to this one, but I'd never read this one! Which, I thought, in the grand scheme of things, is just ridiculous.
Boy, oh boy. I mean, gawww. It took me forever to plow through this. (It's a whale of a book!) Part of it seems Shakespearean; lots of parts read like a play or sometimes a short story; there are songs and lots of science mixed in. It's all over the place (it's a boatload of info!). I would get a lot more out of studying it than simply reading it, obviously, but I'm gonna be careful what I wish for, since I'm taking The American Novel in the fall and could very likely end up having to deal with this again.
I will say, though, that the themes abound and I appreciate that about the book. Melville is a witty (deep!) writer who incorporates phrases and descriptions that stick in the mind (like a harpoon!).
Ok, enough about it. I'm so over it. I'm already 50 pages into my next book.
I started Moby Dick once. Never managed to finish. I admire your resolve.
