Venician Detour

Yesterday we hopped over to Venice for a bit.

And by "hopped," I mean, we got up at 5:30, caught a ferry over to the next island at 6:00, wolfed down a pastry and cappuccino, went through border patrol at 7:30, crashed on the express ferry for 3 hours, went through border patrol again, then hoofed it--and I mean full on cardio--around Venice for a few hours, then went through border control on the way back to the express ferry, chatted up some Brits while crossing the Adriatic, then went through border control again back in Croatia.

It was a wee bit of logistics.

But it was worth it.

More details and pics to come when I have reliable wifi to use (sidenote: they call it "wiffy" here!).

Speaking of logistics, today is a Planes, Trains, and Automobiles kind of day, Croatian style.  We take a bus from Rovinj to Zagreb, then catch another bus to the airport, then fly to Dubrovnik late tonight.  It is a walled city that doesn't allow cars, so we will be clacketty-clacking our suitcases across the city in the early morning darkness.  I'm sure they love Americans.

We'll be off comms until we can figure out the next wiffy situation!  Which means I should sign off now and do homework.  Then I should have another cappuccino and stare at the sea while G packs...
