{As you read that sentence just remember that I will be teaching Freshman Composition in the Fall. You are welcome, dear freshmen, in advance.}
When G's parents were here, they gave us a pasta machine and showed us the ropes. Tonight, we tried it for ourselves.
SCORE.
Once the dough is prepared, you run it through the machine a few times on increasingly smaller settings in order to make it thin. |
Then you cut it so the spaghetti (or whatever) won't be too long. |
The next step is to run it through a different part of the machine that cuts it into either spaghetti (shown here) or fettuccine. |
It takes about 5 people and a bunny to do this. |
The amazing thing about fresh pasta is that it doesn't boil for very long. We made several servings (leftovers!) and it took about 7 minutes - tops - to boil. |
The finished product! (Homemade sauce and meatballs, too!) |
Sidenote: I had a couple of hours of tutoring before dinner and left G in charge of the sauce. He needed to stir it occasionally. When I got home, I asked him if he remembered and he showed me this nifty reminder note he made himself.
Because this is how the culinary Type A's roll.
OMG it's a good thing I have running on the brain these days. Because I sure am good at the carb loading part.
Can someone come clean up for us? Thanks.
