My Way to 5K

Don't mind me, people.  I just dashed my way through 3.2 miles at 9:00 this morning.  I didn't have any goals except to (1) finish, and (2) jog more than walk.  Turns out we jogged about 95% of it - at a nice, leisurely pace, of course.  But still.  Jogging.

Before:

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

After:

OMG orange slices never looked so good.  Nectar of the gods!
It didn't help that M-dawg kept saying things like, "{pant} We've finished two miles.  {Pant} Just think...{pant}...when you do the half marathon...{pant}...you will still have ELEVEN MILES TO GO...{pant}."

I just ignored her.

The race was in City Park (a really awesome area close to our old apartment) and was part of a large event called "Get Outside, Colorado!"  {As if you need to urge Coloradans to get outside!}  Before our race, the mayor spoke and we sang the National Anthem.  The race went through tons of tents, vendors and caterers all set up in the park.

We passed the time by promising ourselves we would try every free sample as soon as we finished.

Free samples?  Oh, who am I kidding, we went out for brunch.  Can it be called brunch if I have water instead of coffee?  And if I have water instead of mimosas, for heaven's sake??

Let me take a minute to describe to you the wonder that was this benedict.  It was served on a quesadilla filled with chorizo, fresh avocado and cheese.  Topped with poached eggs and hollandaise.

Yes, please!

If anyone needs me, I'll be doing this the rest of the day.
{Dang you, homework.  Dang you.}
