The Weekly Dose of Ridiculous

I've stood by far too long, and now I can't take it anymore.  So every Monday for the foreseeable future, you, dear readers, are going to have put up with the Weekly Dose of Ridiculous.  (B is totally onboard with this, because the blog is an outlet into which I can vent my frustration about these things--thereby preventing her from having to listen to me.)

So for the inaugural Dose, let's address makeup.  Specifically, the CoverGirl Capitol Collection, on sale now at your favorite wherever-it-is that you buy makeup.

Yes, this line of products was inspired by the looks of the citizens of the Capitol District from the "Hunger Games" series of books and movies.

For those of you who've read the books and/or seen the movies, I'll let that sink in for a minute.

……….

For those of you who haven't, I'll clue you in as to why this is so dumb.

Apparently, no one at CoverGirl read the books; or if they did, they didn't understand that THE CAPITOL WAS THE BAD GUYS.  Apart from looking like a bunch of rejects from the Bravo Channel, the citizens of the Capitol District are portrayed on the pages and in the films as living the heights of excess, extravagance, debauchery, and indulgence.  None of which are necessarily bad things, unless the rest of the country is living in squalor to support your being able to put gold makeup over your eyes and style your hair like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.

What part of any of that would you want to emulate?

Tune in next week for another Dose.  Until then, may the odds be ever in your favor.
