The Good, The Bad, and the Brunch

This weekend has been a rapid spiral into Sinus Infection Hell.  And I mean, rapid.  I woke up on Saturday morning feeling just a little under the weather, but was mainly distracted by Lucy's vet appointment and chopping 5,000 fruits and vegetables.  By Saturday afternoon I was feeling so bad that we cancelled plans to go to a friend's Oktoberfest celebration (grrrrrrrrrr) that night.  My main goal was to rest, rest, rest, prep for class, and save all my energy for the brunch.

And the brunch went really well!

To further illustrate exactly how sick I really am, these are the only pictures I took!  What???  I know!  The menu included the following:

* Homemade biscuits
* Sausage gravy
* Scrambled eggs
* Colorado cantaloupe
* Cheesy hashbrown casserole
* Ratatouille
* Peach cobbler
* Candy corn bars! (Take home gift)

I couldn't taste any of it but apparently it was a hit!

Every year the fall brunch is a little bit different.  In Virginia, it was a family (and family friends) event.  In Colorado, so far, it has been a way to get to know new friends.  But yesterday our goal was to host some good friends who are so busy with kiddos and church and hosting other people (Chef Campo is amaaaaaazing) that they never have time to just sit back and chillax.  We don't get to spend nearly enough time with them so, bottomless mimosas to the rescue!

I cancelled my usual weekend tutoring in the hopes that resting my voice would prep me for teaching today (I'm being observed by the English department.  And I sound like a duck.  NBD.)  But!  We bought a new lamp for the living room!

Trying to introduce some color into all this brown...
Notice how I managed to take a picture of a lamp but not of the brunch?  Where is my brain?

Anyhoo, in the spirit of looking for silver linings, I have managed to get a lot of fun reading done, thanks to not sleeping at night, thanks to The Sinus Infection From Hell.  Have I mentioned that?  So, more book reviews to come!

But first, I need to survive Monday.  Wish me luck.
