Decorating for Fall ($3 at a time)

Every now and then, when I'm at the store, I'll grab a $3 pumpkin to add to the patch I'm creating in our front yard.  I try to be sneaky so G won't start complaining (all this holiday goodwill gets him spun up for some reason and he has to go kill man dolls on table tops and stuff).  This time, I made it to four pumpkins before he noticed.  I'm getting pretty sneaky at distributing them around the front yard.

It's only a matter of time until the squirrels start eating them (then they truly look gruesome!) and G will play the Ha-I-told-you-so card.  But whatever.  For now they look really cute and festive.

Speaking of festive, guess who's hosting the Annual Fall Brunch tomorrow?  I spent about 5 hours chopping fruits and vegetables today.  I need a sous chef.  Scratch that, I need an actual chef.

Well, hello, candy corn bars.  How lovely to see you.  I will gladly break out the fat pants.
Vegetables will like totally cancel out the candy corn bars.
Today was also an important milestone in dawrighthouse.  We took Loo Loo Bell to the vet for a checkup (it's been a few months), and she almost cooperated with us!  Don't get me wrong; it still took G about 40 minutes to scoot her from her cage to her carrier, and she shunned all three of us (plus the assistant) in the vet's office, but she finally, finally stopped trying to jump off the table and out the door.  EIGHTEEN MONTHS after getting her, we are making some progress.

The vet took one look at her and said we don't need to weigh her.  He said something along the lines of, "Well, clearly she isn't underweight so I think we're good."  He's in love with her and coos at her and loves on her and sweet talks her while he checks her ears, and she just glares at us.

Meanwhile, we're stuck with the bill.  And it ain't cheap, people.

But I'm thankful for a healthy (if snotty) little bun bun.

Come join us for brunch tomorrow.  Two words: Bottomless Mimosas.

  1. Glad Lucy Loo is healthy too. Is she invited to brunch?
