Next week is a car tune up, a bike tune up, and beginning-of-the-year training for the writing consultant job.
Today was the dentist. You know you're getting old when some of your fillings need to be replaced. That composite is made to outlast our actual teeth, so if it needs to be replaced, it means you have one foot in the grave, people. Welcome to my life.
Also, believe it or not, my mouth is quite small.
I'll hold on while you laugh.
But, really, every dentist I've ever had has commented on it. At times, they even use the kids' x-ray stuff because the adult size films and devices won't fit in my mouth. So, let me tell you how fun it is to have one of those jaw openers in my mouth, along with the cotton pads, four hands, and all those tools. I have to go to my International Travel Happy Place in order to get through two hours of that.
But! In the spirit of personal tune ups, I got a great deal. My electric toothbrush bit the dust a few months ago and the dentist's office was running a special. For $100 I got a new toothbrush with 5 replacement heads (that's a big deal!) as well as toothpaste and mouthwash. In stores, just the toothbrush alone - without any replacement heads - is about $130. So, for those of us from the south who have inherited horrible teeth, this is a steal.
Afterwards, I gulped down a bottle of Ibuprofen and rode my bike to campus to copy All The Syllabi!
My "office" |
I skulked around the English department, making copies, drinking water, and generally schmoozing with the profs and staff until my heart rate was down low enough to make the trek home.
Planning is an advantageous aspect of the Type A Organization Skillz. I'm planning a new baseline for the fall semester, as far as diet and exercise. I've mentioned it on the blog before, but my biggest concern is that when things get insanely busy, I'll stop exercising, and I'll gain a thousand pounds. So, I've made a new baseline. It includes biking two days a week, strength training two days a week, and running at least two days a week.
Again, I'll wait while you chuckle to yourself.
It's a lofty goal, so we'll see.
Meanwhile on the agenda for tomorrow: my very first massage! Deets to come!
