The Blessed Downward Spiral

I realize that "downward spiral" can sound like a bad thing but that's not how I mean it.  I have now reached the point of the semester in which all of the hard teaching is behind me, and so are the hard projects.  I have a few things to wrap up here and there, a few more things to write, but that pinpoint of light at the end of the tunnel?  Yeah, it's steadily growing larger.  Lucy and I are about to put on our sunglasses.

Lucy: A Photo Series

I do a lot of my grading on the couch.  This is a sampling of what Lucy does the entire time.

Yes, she really is that frowny.

I survived the presentation and turning in the first of two big papers.

Then I basically crashed the rest of the week.

I registered for classes next semester and saw that the two classes I'm teaching are showing up on my school system schedule: it's official!

The classes I'm taking next semester are both literature, which means the last books I read for fun, until May, will be this December.  Any recommendations?

  1. The most enjoyable book I've read recently is called Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner. He's an international correspondent for NPR so has traveled all over the world. This book is about his search for the "happiest" place on Earth. The chapters are divided by countries he visits on his quest. It's fascinating!
