Where the Buffalo Ro------Lay around and stare at you

Now that my hiking buddy is here and all is right with the world, we can begin to get out and explore this great state.  After brunch, of course.  As I sipped my mimosa yesterday and gazed lovingly at my Eggs Sardou, G goes, "It just seems weird, sipping mimosas and then going hiking..."

I was like, "That's not weird, dude, that's perfect.  Get used to it."

We went a few minutes outside of Denver to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge

Say that three times fast.

They are a buffalo preserve.  When relocating the bison to this area, they took great care to take only ones with "pure" DNA that had not been mixed with cows.  These bison lay around and stare at the visitors.  The reserve is laid out in such a way that visitors can also drive around the perimeter and see the buffalo, but we wanted to walk around and burn off brunch.

We walked for a couple of miles and worked on getting acclimated.  Exercising with no oxygen takes some getting used to, people.  This was a great hike for that because it was flat and there was lots to see.  It was a beautiful day and we had nowhere else to be; it was the perfect way to spend part of the weekend before a very crazy week.

I fly to VA tonight and G starts his "new" job tomorrow.  The apartment is trashed because G is inconsiderate and thought it would be OK to bring his clothes when he moved in.  I had this whole system going and now he's screwed up my bun shway.  Maybe it's best that I leave town for a week...
